Night Nanny

About

Because parents need sleep too.

Night Nanny started from one plain thought: everyone deserves sleep, and new parents are the people least likely to get any. Overnight doulas in many cities charge forty-five to sixty dollars an hour, so most families price the idea once, decide it is not for them, and go on waking every two hours.

So this is a directory, and only a directory. Night nannies across the US and Canada list themselves and set their own hourly rates. A family searches their area, reads profiles, and chooses for themselves who to contact. Everything after that — the nights, the rate, the arrangements — is agreed between the two of them, and nothing is added on top by us.

What we deliberately don’t do

FindNightNanny helps families and caregivers find and message each other. You choose, interview, hire and pay the caregiver yourself.

  • We don’t take a cut of care fees

Care fees do not pass through Night Nanny. Families pay night nannies directly, at a rate the two of them agree — we never handle the money and never take a share of it. That is not a billing footnote: it is the reason a night here costs what she asks for and nothing on top.

  • We don’t charge a finder’s fee

There is no finder’s fee, no agency fee, and no charge for any one introduction or booking. Searching, the map and every profile are free for everyone. Contacting a night nanny — starting a conversation, or sending a care request — takes a family membership, a trial or a free pass. Night Nanny charges families for a family membership, a flat monthly fee for contacting night nannies, and night nannies for Featured, which is optional. All a Featured membership buys is a higher position in search results, a place at the front of any profiles the home page shows, and a Featured badge. It is never a fee for finding somebody, and never a share of what a family pays for care.

  • Nobody here has checked the person you hire

Night Nanny does not review documents, does not run criminal record checks, and does not confirm anything a night nanny says about herself. Interviewing her, asking for references and calling them is yours to do — here is the whole of it, in writing.

  • We don’t invent social proof

Reviews come only from care requests whose first night of care is over, including ones cancelled after it. Where we have too few numbers to be meaningful, we show none rather than dress up the ones we have.

Contact

Email reaches a person, not a queue. If you are reporting a safety concern, say so in the subject line. If anybody is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number — Night Nanny cannot intervene in your home.

If you already have an account, blocking and reporting are built in and are faster than email — a block takes effect the moment you tap it.
